October 23, 2025 — The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department (WTFD) extended its gratitude to the Washington Township School District, along with the faculty and students of Port Colden Elementary School and Brass Castle Elementary School, for welcoming firefighters during Fire Prevention Week.

Firefighters spent time with students discussing key fire safety topics, including home escape plans, smoke alarm awareness, and safe practices in case of an emergency. The interactive sessions provided valuable education to the township’s youngest residents, helping them understand the importance of preparedness and safety both at home and in school.

Programs like these highlight the WTFD’s ongoing commitment to community education and prevention, reinforcing that safety starts with awareness.
