Niverville, NY - A motor vehicle collision at a busy rural intersection ended with a car crashing directly into a residential building Wednesday, inflicting structural damage to the home and sending one person to the hospital.
First responders from the Niverville Fire Department were dispatched on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to the junction of State Route 203 and County Route 28 following reports of a vehicle striking a home. Arriving units found that a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with the house, compromising structural components of the dwelling.
Firefighters immediately established a safety perimeter around the building, stabilized the vehicle, and assessed the residence for secondary hazards, including compromised load-bearing walls and utility lines. Due to emergency apparatus positioning and debris in the roadway, State Route 203 was completely shut down to traffic for the duration of the incident.
Emergency medical technicians and paramedics from the Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad provided on-scene medical care to one injured patient before transporting them to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Crews remained on the scene to oversee vehicle removal, monitor the physical stability of the structure, and clear roadway hazards before reopening State Route 203 to normal traffic flow.
