GCVFA Convention Hosted in New Baltimore

The Greene County Volunteer Fireman's Association 133rd Annual Convention was hosted by the Cornell Hook and Ladder Fire Company in New Baltimore, celebrating 125 years of service.

The week consisted of the annual meetings and dinners, a mardi gras parade, a dress parade and performances from two bands as well as a 9/11 tribute ceremony with performances from the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band.

The parade route lined up down Route 144 from Coeymans and travelled down through New Baltimore, making a right onto Gill Road, passing the firehouse where the parade then broke off.

Marching in this parade included New Baltimore, Medway-Grapeville, Ravena, Coeymans, Coeymans Hollow, Westerlo, Greenville, Coxsackie, Earlton, Hunter, Athens, West-Athens, Kiskatom, Cairo, Round Top, East Durham, Oak-Hill Durham, Freehold, Lanesville, Prattsville, Tannersville, Windham, Palenville, Hensonville, Haines Falls, Taghkanic, East Greenbush fire departments.

Trophies were awarded to those in the dress parade and awards were as follows:
Best Appearing 5-8 in line: 1st Place; Hensonville
Best Appearing 9-15 in line: 1st Place; Haines Falls, 2nd Place; Greenville, 3rd Place; Medway-Grapeville
Best Appearing 16-24 in line: 1st Place; Palenville, 2nd Place; Earlton, 3rd Place; Cairo
Best Appearing over 25 in line: 1st Place; Athens, 2nd Place; Kiskatom
Best Appearing (5 of more) without music: 1st Place; Haines Falls
Best Appearing Apparatus 1-5 years: 1st Place; Coeymans, 2nd Place; Coxsackie

The pride within the New Baltimore Fire Department and the tremendous amount of work that went into this convention showed.
