West Greenwich Firefighters Responded to Kitchen Fire in Dwelling

West Greenwich, RI — October 3 — The West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Company No.1 sent all of its local companies to address a call about smoke coming from inside a house. Engine 22 arrived at the scene and discovered a fire in the kitchen area. All people living in the home and any pets had already left the building before the firefighters arrived, and there were no reports of anyone being hurt.

Firefighters evaluated the situation and started working to bring the kitchen fire under control. When there is smoke inside a home, fire crews have to find the source of the smoke, check if the fire has spread, and see if heat or smoke has reached other parts of the house or hidden areas.

Kitchen fires can spread quickly and involve cooking devices, appliances, storage cabinets, and other nearby materials.

Firefighters need to carefully examine the area where the fire started to ensure it is fully put out and that there are no remaining hot spots. They may also look into connected rooms and air vents for signs of smoke or heat damage.

Because the residents and pets left the home quickly, firefighters were able to focus entirely on the fire without any injuries reported.

The West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 provides emergency services to the community from its station located at 830 Nooseneck Hill Road. The department handles tasks like fire suppression, rescue operations, vehicle extrication, and other emergency responses. Engine 22 is specifically equipped to respond to fires and other calls the department handles.

This incident showed how important it is for people to evacuate a home quickly and report smoke or fire as soon as it is noticed.
