West Greenwich, RI — October 4 — Chief 201, Engines 21 and 22, Tanker 23, and LMFD Tanker 1 were called to a vehicle fire reported on Route 95 South on Sunday night. Vehicle fires on highways present challenges for firefighters as they need to control the fire while being cautious of moving traffic and other road dangers. It is important to position equipment properly, ensure scene safety, and have access to water during these operations on busy roads.

The West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 offers fire suppression, rescue, vehicle extrication, and other emergency services in the local community and nearby areas. On their official website, it is stated that Engine 21 is equipped with a water tank and tools for vehicle extrication. Engine 22 has a bumper line, which is useful for vehicle fires and other emergency situations. Tanker 23 is used to provide extra support during department responses.

The fire department is based at 830 Nooseneck Hill Road in West Greenwich, Rhode Island. This response illustrated how engines, tankers, and mutual-aid resources work together to manage vehicle fires on major highways.
