11 October 2025 - In the early morning hours, Rescue Box crews were alerted to a motor vehicle accident involving reported entrapment and fire. Rescue 245 arrived on scene with the Duty Chief and Chief, stretching lines on two vehicles fully involved.
Fortunately, just before their arrival, several 911 dispatchers finishing their shift—along with a tow operator from McGann and Chester, LLC.—had stopped to assist and successfully rescued both drivers from the burning vehicles. The patients were treated and transported by EMS. Engine 128 and Rescue 209 provided additional support at the scene.
A special acknowledgment was given to the Telecommunicators (TCOs) of Allegheny County Emergency Services for their heroic actions. Often working behind the scenes as First Responders, these dispatchers were the first on the scene that morning, directly saving two lives. Their quick thinking and bravery truly made a difference.
