Stratford, Connecticut — October 7 — To increase firefighter safety and lower contaminant exposure, the Stratford Fire Department has modernized its equipment storage system. Previously, members had to pass through gear rooms to reach living areas; however, structural firefighting equipment is now kept in the apparatus bays at Fire Headquarters. The modification reduces the possibility of exposure to dangerous materials present on used turnout equipment, as have comparable improvements at other stations.
