Gilmanton, N.H. — October 3 — As autumn settles in, members of the Gilmanton Firefighters’ Association continued a long-standing local tradition by carefully taking down the town’s American flags.
The flags, which line the streets from Memorial Day through Labor Day, are removed each fall as the town prepares for the colder season. Firefighters will inspect each flag, repair or replace any that show wear, and store them safely until they return in time for next summer’s warm-weather celebrations.
The association encourages residents to reach out to the firehouse if they notice a flag that needs attention. Crews will respond promptly to make sure the community’s display remains respectful and well-maintained.
