Sept. 21, 2025 — With heavy hearts, the Avoca Hose Company No. 1 announces the passing of Glenn Davis, a deeply respected and longtime member of the fire company family.

Glenn dedicated an extraordinary 59 years of service to the department, giving countless hours to protect and support the Avoca community. Beyond his decades on the fireground, Glenn also served faithfully as the company’s treasurer, ensuring the smooth operation of the department.

His loyalty, wisdom, and friendship left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Glenn was the embodiment of what it means to be a true volunteer, not only through his fire service but also through his selfless contributions to the community — including building hundreds of ramps for those in need.

“All of us looked up to Glenn,” the department shared. “We can only hope to give back the way he did.”

Glenn Davis’s unwavering commitment, kindness, and example of service will never be forgotten. Rest easy, Glenn — you will be greatly missed.
