CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Tuesday, Sept. 23) — Firefighters in Cranberry Township capped a busy evening Tuesday with rope rescue training, citizen fire academy sessions and weekly drills focused on search-and-rescue techniques.
The training emphasized vent-enter-search, in which firefighters use ground ladders to reach a space, search for occupants and remove any victims. Crews also held a lighthearted competition, racing to throw a 16-foot ladder and climb through a second-story window.
Fire Chief Garing posted the fastest time, beating younger members by a second and a half.
