Whitehouse, N.J.— Sept 18: The East Whitehouse Volunteer Fire Department took a central role in highlighting the lifesaving work of local law enforcement this week, as ten Readington Township Police Officers were honored with Life Saving Awards during a Township Committee meeting.
The fire department—located at 93 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse Station—serves its community not only with fire suppression but also by being an emergency services anchor in Readington Township.
The awards recognized three separate incidents in which police officers performed CPR and rescue efforts that led to the survival of citizens: On Easter Sunday, Lieutenant Jack Mazellan, Corporal Jacob Belardo, Detective Miles Smith, Officer Anthony Albanese, and Officer Kevin Berehe. On June 30, Corporal David Bodine, Officer Dylan Hourihan, and Officer Mike Columbo saved an unresponsive fall victim through CPR. On August 14, Officer Mike Ramos and Officer Ryan Donovan revived a soccer player who suffered cardiac arrest at Summer Road Park. Officials noted that all three victims have since made full recoveries, attributing those outcomes directly to prompt, professional action taken by the officers.
