Kendall, NY - A bicyclist was airlifted to a regional trauma center Wednesday evening following a serious motor vehicle collision along the Lake Ontario State Parkway in northern Orleans County.

On September 9, emergency units were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of the Lake Ontario State Parkway, just west of Kendall Road, following reports of a motor vehicle accident involving an automobile and a bicycle.

The Kendall Fire Department responded alongside mutual aid and support units, including Hamlin Fire, Engine 372, Mercy EMS, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, and Orleans County Emergency Management. Emergency personnel arrived on scene to find the injured cyclist, quickly providing on-scene medical triage, patient stabilization, and roadway traffic control.

Due to the severity of the patient's injuries, incident commanders requested an emergency aeromedical evacuation. Mercy Flight landed directly near the highway scene, where flight paramedics assumed patient care. The cyclist was subsequently airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for advanced trauma treatment.

Local officials praised the swift coordination and teamwork demonstrated by all responding fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies during the high-stakes highway incident.
