Troy Firefighters Arrive With Smoke Showing On 6th Avenue

On August 30, 2026, at 5:57 PM, the City of Troy’s Fire Department was dispatched to 1032 6th Avenue for box 6320 for a reported structure fire. Engine six, engine two, engine three, truck two, truck one, the rescue squad, medic three, and the battalion chief responded to the scene. The caller reported the basement was on fire. Engine six arrived on scene with smoke showing from the street and transmitted the signal thirty. Firefighters deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the front door and made their way to the basement.

The next due truck company immediately tossed ladders to the roof and firefighters made their way to the roof to pop the scuttle to see if they had any smoke or fire in the attic as the building was a balloon frame structure. Firefighters in the basement had a heavy smoke condition and a working fire in the basement. Firefighters established a water supply from the nearby hydrant and firefighters in the basement immediately knocked down the fire condition before it could spread. Firefighters conducted a primary search of the building and made sure that there was no occupants remaining in the structure.

Firefighters brought the incident under control within ten minutes of arrival. Firefighters conducted ventilation for an extended period of time while Fire Investigator’s worked to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported. Firefighters went back into service around 6:40 P.M.
