On August 25, 2026, at 12:09 a.m., Fuller Road Fire Department, West Albany Fire Department, Shaker Road Fire Department and Colonie Village Fire Company were dispatched to 21 Ahl Avenue for a reported structure fire with possible entrapment.
The first-arriving chief reported heavy smoke and fire from the attic and transmitted a Signal 30. All occupants were confirmed out of the residence.
West Albany’s first-arriving engine deployed a 1¾-inch handline as crews entered the structure, conducted a primary search and began an interior attack. Firefighters encountered heavy fire on the second floor and in the attic while additional crews placed ground ladders and conducted ventilation. As operations continued, Stanford Heights Fire Department was requested as an additional rapid intervention team, while Midway Fire Department responded with an engine. Crews deployed a second handline to the upper floor and continued opening ceilings to reach the attic fire.
The fire was brought under control within approximately 25 minutes. No injuries were reported, and Town of Colonie Fire Services responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
