Elevated Rescue: LeRoy Firefighters Lower Two Workers Stranded 45 Feet on Broken Lift

Le Roy, NY - Firefighters with the LeRoy Fire Department conducted a successful high-angle technical rescue Tuesday evening, safely bringing two workers to the ground after their aerial lift malfunctioned approximately 45 feet in the air.

At 7:52 p.m. on September 8, emergency crews were dispatched to 9088 Linwood Road in southeastern Genesee County following reports of two individuals trapped aloft on a disabled commercial mechanical lift platform.

The LeRoy Fire Department responded with Ladder 65 and Rescue 66. Upon arriving on scene, incident commanders evaluated the stability of the mechanical platform and deployed specialized aerial rescue apparatus to reach the stranded workers.

Operating under the glare of scene lighting, firefighters maneuvered ladder equipment into position, established contact with the workers, and systematically transferred both individuals to safety from their 45-foot elevated position.

Both workers were lowered to the ground without injury, and no responder injuries were reported during the technical operation.
