Car Crashes into Baldwin CVS, Triggering Multi-Department Technical Rescue Response

Baldwin, NY - A late-afternoon motor vehicle collision into a commercial building triggered a regional technical rescue response on Wednesday, sending two vehicle occupants to the hospital and prompting structural stability assessments at a local pharmacy.

At approximately 5:28 p.m. on September 2, 2026, the Baldwin Fire Department was dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy located at 1829 Grand Avenue in southern Nassau County following reports that an automobile had crashed directly into the retail structure. Third Deputy Chief CJ Jamison arrived first on scene, observed the vehicle wedged into the exterior of the building, and immediately activated the regional Minor Technical Rescue Team Matrix to secure specialized structural collapse and stabilization capabilities.

Specially trained technical rescue personnel and apparatus from the Freeport, Rockville Centre, North Bellmore, and Bellmore fire departments deployed to the scene to assist. Baldwin Chief of Department Michael Parise arrived shortly thereafter and assumed overall incident command.

Responders operated on Grand Avenue for just over an hour, stabilizing the compromised area of the storefront, evaluating the vehicle's structural impact on the building envelope, and ensuring no hidden utilities were breached.

The Baldwin Fire Department EMS Division treated two injured occupants from the involved vehicle before transporting them by ambulance to Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside for emergency medical evaluation and care. No injuries were reported among shoppers or employees inside the pharmacy, nor among responding emergency crews.
