Borderline Vehicle Blaze: Bethpage and Hicksville Firefighters Knock Down Auto Fire in Nassau County

Bethpage, NY - Firefighters from Bethpage and Hicksville joined forces along a shared district boundary Wednesday to knock down an active automobile fire, successfully mitigating the roadside incident without injuries.

On Wednesday, August 20, 2026, the Bethpage Fire Department dispatched Engine 9044 and Engine 9077 to the intersection of Bloomingdale Road and South Broadway in eastern Nassau County following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Due to the scene's immediate proximity to the neighboring fire district border, the Hicksville Fire Department was also dispatched to the location. Arriving crews from both departments integrated their apparatus on the roadway, stretching attack lines to quickly suppress the burning automobile and extinguish hot spots throughout the engine compartment and passenger cabin.

The joint suppression effort brought the blaze under control before adjacent roadways or utility lines were compromised.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
