Early Alarm Helps Limit Wolfeboro Attic Fire

August 29, 2026 — A whole-house HVAC unit caught fire in the attic of a house on Sewall Road on Saturday, prompting Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue to react to a domestic fire.
At at 11:29 a.m., the department was sent to 114 Sewall Road. When Engine 3 and Truck 5 arrived at approximately 11:37 a.m., they discovered an active fire in the attic.
The fire was swiftly fought and put out by firefighters. Workers stayed on the scene to vent smoke from the house because of the construction of the attic.
The fire was restricted to the small area where it began, and no injuries were reported. According to fire officials, the monitored fire alarm gave early warning, enabling firemen to act before the fire caused more serious damage. Alton Fire supplied station coverage, while Tuftonboro Fire, Wakefield Fire, and Wolfeboro Police helped on the scene. According to officials, an overheated motor in the HVAC system seems to be the source of the fire.
Residents were advised by Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue to install and maintain smoke alarms in their houses. The department's headquarters are on Wolfeboro's South Main Street.
