One Transported After Route 8 Vehicle Fire

September 7, 2026 — Shelton, Connecticut: Shortly after clearing a different incident necessitating an extrication, Shelton Fire Department crews returned to Route 8 on Monday nite for a vehicle fire.

Around 9:03 p.m., the second call was received. An individual may still be trapped, according to an original report that linked the vehicle fire to a car accident.

Dispatch verified that the vehicle was extensively engulfed in flames and that everyone had gotten out while responders were arriving. Assistant Chief Mike Plavcan's Car 6 came and verified the situation before taking over. Deputy Chief Wilson was the Operations Officer while Engine 2 crews extended an attack line and started fighting the fire. Firefighters contained the fire in a matter of minutes with the help of Squad 1 and Engine 35.

Echo Hose Ambulance transported one individual for assessment. There were no more recorded injuries.
