Shelton Fire Handles Route 8 Vehicle Fire

September 1, 2026 — Shelton, CT: On Tuesday afternoon, two Shelton Fire Department units arrived at Route 8 in response to a reported vehicle fire.
Around 3:15 p.m., Companies 1 and 3 were sent out. No injuries were recorded after firefighters arrived and put out the car fire.
After the event, the highway was completely reopened. Four fire companies serve the city as part of the all-volunteer Shelton Fire Department.
No further information regarding the car or the reason for the fire was reported by the department.
