Norwich Holds Fire to the First Floor

At 1:14 am on Wednesday, 9/9/26 Engine 2, Squad A, Engine 3, Truck 1, Battalion 1, Laurel Hill Engine 62 and East Great Plain Ladder 5 were dispatched to 2 Central Avenue for smoke coming from the building. Dispatch transmitted the working fire saying police responded for a burglar alarm and found smoke coming from the structure. This added Engine 1 & Occum Engine 42 with Mohegan Tribal FAST and American Ambulance.
Engine 2 arrived with smoke showing from the first floor of a 3.5 story wood frame residential over commercial. Engine 2 stretched an 1.75” hose line through the front door and extinguished the fire. Squad A laid in from a hydrant and established the water supply. Truck 1 set up on the Alpha/Bravo corner and performed primary searches of the second and third floor.
Engines 3 and 1 stretched a line to the second floor and checked for extension. Ladder 5 set up on the Bravo/Charlie corner and assisted with ventilation. The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
