Westport, CT - Emergency responders from the Town of Westport Fire Department navigated a treacherous web of compromised infrastructure Thursday evening to free a trapped motorist following a violent rollover crash along Turkey Hill Road North.

The crash occurred on the evening of Thursday, October 15, 2026, drawing a rapid deployment of rescue companies after initial 911 calls reported a single-vehicle rollover with an occupant trapped inside the wreckage.

First-arriving units encountered an unstable inverted vehicle alongside a snapped utility pole, with energized, live electrical lines draped dangerously close to the impact zone.

Faced with severe electrocution risks, fire crews quickly coordinated with utility personnel to establish an electrical safety boundary while stabilizing the compromised vehicle.

Firefighters deployed hydraulic rescue tools to systematically breach the cabin, peeling back mangled frame posts and roof metal to create an egress path without disturbing the surrounding power lines.

Once freed from the wreckage, the injured occupant was transferred into the care of awaiting emergency medical personnel and transported to an area hospital for treatment. Turkey Hill Road North remained closed into the night while utility crews cleared the downed infrastructure and emergency personnel completed incident investigations.
