Easton, MA - Easton firefighters responded to the area of 138 Prospect St. after a report of smoke in the woods was received from the state forestry fire warden. Upon arrival, crews discovered a large mulch pile, logs and portions of the surrounding woods actively burning.
The size of the fire and difficult access to the area presented additional challenges for firefighters. Due to the conditions at the scene, mutual aid tankers were requested from the Raynham, Sharon and Canton fire departments to assist with water supply and firefighting operations.
On September 5, firefighters from Easton and the assisting departments worked together to contain the fire and extinguish the flames. Crews remained at the scene for several hours as they worked through the affected area and ensured the fire was fully under control.
While Easton firefighters were committed to the incident, the Norton Fire Department provided station coverage for the Town of Easton, helping maintain emergency response capabilities for the community during the operation. Additional support came from Easton CERT and Mansfield Emergency Management Agency, which provided hydration and rehabilitation resources for firefighters and other personnel working at the scene.
The incident highlighted the importance of mutual aid and coordinated response during difficult fire operations. The Easton Fire Department expressed apreciation to all of the assisting agencies and personel for their support and teamwork in helping bring the fire under control while continuing to protect the surrounding communities.
