Late last night at 11:45 p.m., Litchfield Fire Rescue and Hudson Ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Brenton Street and White Street for a serious single-vehicle crash.
Officials say the vehicle, traveling down White Street, failed to stop at the intersection, went down an embankment, and became airborne—clearing Brenton Street before crashing into a tree. The impact triggered full airbag deployment.
The driver, a single male occupant, was found on the roadside with a suspected broken leg and other injuries. He was transported by ambulance to a Manchester hospital for further treatment.
The vehicle, an all-electric model, sustained heavy front-end damage. Crews thoroughly checked the battery system, which was confirmed to be intact and undamaged.
Litchfield Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
