Mutual-Aid Crews Battled Large Garage Fire in West Seneca

WEST SENECA, NY — August 18 — Seneca Hose Company #1 provided mutual aid to the Reserve Fire Company on August 18 for a reported shed fire that escalated into a large garage fire on Reserve Road. According to Seneca Hose Company #1, Engine 1 was sent to assist Reserve.

While on the way, firefighters noticed a large column of black smoke coming from the Seneca Hose station.Upon arrival, crews found a large garage with intense fire conditions, involving multiple vehicles, both attached and detached outbuildings, and several fuel and chemical hazards, including propane and acetylene.


Firefighters from the West Seneca fire districts used multiple handlines to bring the fire under control.

The presence of compressed-gas cylinders and other chemicals required crews to be cautious of additional hazards while working to contain the fire.


The West Seneca Police Department also stated that officers responded with the Reserve Fire Company to the large garage fire on August 18.

Local television station WGRZ independently reported a fire on Reserve Road that afternoon and mentioned that propane tanks or another fuel source may have been involved.


Seneca Hose Company #1 is based at 2801 Seneca Street, West Seneca, NY 14224, and serves West Seneca Fire District No. 5.The Town of West Seneca lists Reserve as District No.3 and Seneca Hose as District No.5.
