Commack, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Commack Fire Department deployed heavy hydraulic rescue equipment Tuesday evening, successfully freeing two trapped passengers following a serious collision along Crooked Hill Road.
On the evening of Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Commack emergency crews were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle crash on Crooked Hill Road. Arriving first responders confirmed that two occupants were pinned inside the wreckage of a damaged vehicle and immediately went to work deploying hydraulic cutters and spreaders.
Rescue personnel stabilized the vehicle and systematically sheared the structural posts and displaced crumpled metal to safely extricate both victims, transferring them to awaiting EMS teams for medical evaluation and transport.
The incident was one of two separate motor vehicle accidents Commack volunteers were called to mitigate during a busy evening surge on local roadways. Firefighters cleared debris and fluid hazards before reopening the corridor to normal traffic.
