Chicopee firefighters complete advanced water rescue training

CHICOPEE, Mass. (Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025) — Several Chicopee firefighters took part in a two-day advanced water rescue training course this week to sharpen their skills for handling dangerous water emergencies, officials said.
The program was provided by Mather Rescue and focused on techniques to improve safety and effectiveness during water rescues.
Department officials said regular training is essential given the hazards of water incidents.
