COLDEN, N.Y. — August 8 — The East Seneca Fire Company, which is part of the West Seneca Fire District #4, participated in a mutual-aid operation for a residential fire in Colden during the late evening hours.

East Seneca Engine 1 was initially called upon by the South Wales Fire Company to be on standby at its station while South Wales crews attended to the fire in Colden.

While heading to the standby location, the crew was reassigned to the fire scene and joined the ongoing efforts.

Once on the scene, the East Seneca team helped other firefighters check for and put out hot spots on the second floor.

Checking for and eliminating hot spots is a crucial part of the fireground overhaul process, as it ensures that any remaining heat or fire in hidden areas is addressed before the incident can be officially concluded.

According to Erie County records, the East Seneca Volunteer Fire Company is located at 100 Lein Road, West Seneca, NY 14224, and the South Wales Volunteer Fire Company is at 6406 Olean Road.

The Colden Fire Company serves the Town of Colden and offers both fire protection and emergency medical services.
