S Plainfield, NJ - South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 2100 block of Orchard Drive for a reported structure fire. OEM 3 arrived first and reported a 1½-story residential structure with visible smoke showing. Chief 50 arrived on scene, established command, and transmitted a second alarm due to rapidly developing conditions.

Engine 4 arrived and stretched a 1¾” handline into the structure, encountering near zero visibility conditions on entry. Crews immediately began an aggressive interior attack while Truck 7 took primary search assignments to ensure occupant safety under heavy smoke conditions.

Multiple mutual aid companies were requested, including Edison Firefighters IAFF Local 1197, Plainfield Firefighters FMBA Local 7, Colonia Volunteer Fire Department, and North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company, along with aditional support units assisting with manpower and operations.

In Middlesex County on August 9, crews operated under heavy smoke and rapidly deterorating interior conditions while continuing suppression and search efforts across the structure.

Firefighters maintained steady interior progress until the fire was brought under control. Crews remained on scene for overhaul to ensure complete extinguishment and eliminate any remaining hidden extension.
