In Middlesex County on August 8, Spotswood Volunteer Fire Department – Enterprise Hook & Ladder Co., Inc. began the weekend assisting Brookview Volunteer Fire Company with a six-hour standby assignment covering the Middlesex County Fair, ensuring fire protection remained in place throughout the event.

Later that night, following their return, crews were dispatched to assist Jamesburg Fire Department with a reported three-alarm structure fire. Units operated throughout the overnight hours providing manpower and support during active firefighting operations before being released once the incident was brought under control.

Crews worked alongside multiple mutual aid partners during a challenging structure fire response that resulted in significant loss. The department extended condolences to the families affected and also wished a full recovery to firefighters injured during the incident.

Despite limited rest, members regrouped the following day for the department’s annual BBQ, strengthening morale and camaraderie within the department. Appreciation was extended to American Legion Post 253 for providing the facility, and to Ralph’s Ices Spotswood for donating refreshments to support members after a demanding operatonal period.

Spotswood crews continued to demonstrate comitment both on and off the fireground, balancing standby duty, major incident support, and community engagement within a short operational window.
