W Amwell, NJ - West Amwell Fire Company was dispatched to Fire Box 26-48 for a reported residential building fire. Chief 26 arrived to find a 30’x30’ garage fully involved, with a 12’x10’ shed also becoming involved and positioned close to a nearby residential dwelling. Command was established, and a 360-degree size-up was completed to assess fire spread and exposure risks.

Crews operating in Hunterdon County, New Jersey on August 19 quickly identified that the fire was extending toward the side of the residence. Rescue Engine 17 was directed to accelerate response due to visible impingement on the structure.

Rescue Engine 17 arrived and stretched a 1¾” handline for immediate exposure protection and suppression along the residence. Engine 48 deployed a second 1¾” line to cool exposed areas and limit extension, while Engine 26 advanced a third line to attack the main body of fire and support knockdown efforts.

Engine 17 supplied Rescue Engine 17, while Tender 48 supported Engine 48 with water supply operations. Mercer Engine 50 assisted with suppression and overhaul once the main fire was brought under control. Operations were later paused to allow the Township Fire Marshal to conduct an investigation.

Following knockdown, crews conducted thorough overhaul and cleanup, with foam applied to remaining hot spots to prevent rekindle. A BLS unit provided firefighter rehabilitation on scene, while West Amwell Township Police assisted with scene operations and safety.

Mutual aid was provided by Delaware Township Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company, City of Lambertville Fire District #1, Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad, New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, IAFF Local 3897 – Hopewell Valley Uniformed Fire Fighters Association, Union Fire Company & Rescue Squad, and Hopewell Fire Department.
