W Amwell, NJ - West Amwell Fire Company responded to a residential dwelling for a reported odor of electrical burning. Chief 26 arrived on scene, established command, and met with the homeowners, where the odor was confirmed inside the residence.

Crews operating in Hunterdon County on August 10 conducted a coordinated response, with apparatus positioned to ensure safe and efficient access for interior operations. Rescue Engine 17 positioned past the residence to allow Quint 26 clear access to the driveway, while Quint 46 covered the front of the structure. Engine 47 and Tender 48 staged and remained ready for potential water supply operations if needed.

Firefighters conducted a detailed interior investigation, systematically checking the home while securing utilities and working to isolate the source of the odor. The investigation ultimately led crews to the area around the electrical meter and generator system, where an electrical fault was identfied. Power and gas supply to the generator were promptly secured to eliminate the hazard.

The basement and surrounding areas were rechecked to ensure no further extension or hidden danger remained within the structure.

Mutual aid was provided by Delware Township Fire Company, City of Lambertville Fire District #1, Amwell Valley Fire Company, and New Hope Eagle Volunteer Fire Company, with Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad standing by if additional assistance was required.

Once the scene was stablized and deemed safe, the homeowner was advised to contact a licensed electrician for further evaluation. All units cleared the incident within approximately 45 minutes without further incident.
