EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — August 7, 2026 — At at 7:23 p.m. on Friday, East Brunswick firefighters went to a reported fire alarm at a two-story, single-family home.

After seeing smoke coming from the house, the first crew from East Brunswick Independent Fire Company, District 2, using Engine 803, requested a township general alarm.

Old Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Brookview Volunteer Fire Company, South River Fire Department, North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, the City of New Brunswick Fire Department, Spotswood Volunteer Fire Department, and Sayreville Engine Company No. 1 were among the other fire departments that responded. As part of the entire emergency response, the Milltown Rescue Squad also participated.

Engine 803's crew forced entry on the Bravo side of the residence and located a fire on the first floor. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and prevented further extension, limiting damage to the property.

Crews then searched the residence and found no victims inside.

The East Brunswick Fire District No. 2 Fire Prevention Office is investigating the cause and origin. The East Brunswick Independent Fire Company thanked the mutual-aid companies and other emergency-service personnel who assisted at the incident.
