Wyckoff Marine Unit Assists in Passaic River Missing Person Search

Wyckoff, NJ - On August 13 in Essex County, the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department Marine Unit was requested to respond to the Passaic River in the City of Newark to assist local authorities with a reported missing person in the water.


Upon arrival, the marine team operated in coordination with Newark agencies and other responding units to conduct a systematic water search of the designated river area. Utilizing onboard sonar equipment and structured search patterns, crews worked to efficiently cover assigned sections of the waterway under incident command direction.


Despite challenging river conditions, operations were carried out in an organized and controlled manner, with continuous communication maintained between all participating agencies throughout the search effort. The assigned search operations were completed as requested by incident command.


The response demonstrated effective interagency coordination and highlighted the Wyckoff Marine Unit’s specialized capabilities in water-based search operations and mutual aid support.
