Storm-Downed Tree Cleared from Rail Line in Swift Fire Department Response
Westwood, NJ - On July 27, the Westwood Volunteer Fire Department in Bergen County was requested by NJ Transit Police to assist after a large tree fell during a severe storm and obstructed the Pascack Valley Line railway. The fallen tree created a significant hazard, preventing train movement and requiring immediate response to restore safe operations.
Fire crews arrived on scene and worked methodically to cut and dismantle the tree, addressing both the large trunk and scattered debris across the tracks. Utilizing a pull chain system, firefighters were able to safely remove the heavy trunk from the railway.
