Centerport, PA. — July 14 — Together with many local fire departments, the Central Berks Fire Company responded to a brush fire off West Leesport Road. As the flames moved thru the vegetation, two department brush trucks used brush sweeps to put out the fire. Additionally, a department tanker stayed on the scene in case more water was required. Before firemen controlled and put out the fire, about five acres burnt.

Serving the neighboring Berks County area as a volunteer department, Central Berks Fire Company was based at 111 Callowhill Road in Centerport. The business maintained tanker capabilities for situations requiring an additional water supply and was designated as Fire Station 38.
