Man Rescued After Sailboat Overturns

Mastic Beach FD chiefs and EMS Resources responded to the area the call came in from. Mastic FD's boat was already out underway on a routine training when the alarm came in and redirected to the scene of the call. They were met on scene by Center Moriches FD boats boat crew. They found the operator of an approx 16 ft sailboat in the water he reported his sail boat had overturned and he was able to upright it before flipping again. US Coast Guard was also dispatched to the scene as well.
The operator of the boat was recovered by the rescue crews from Mastic FD and and brought on board their boat. . Center Moriches FD assisted mastic as well and then recovered the boat and secured it on their vessle for transport back to Mastic Beach Marina 1 aka the Lagoon. Once back at Marina 1 the subject was interviewed by the fire chiefs and their info was also forwarded to the Coast Guard for their report.
Additional member departments of the Marine Response Team were given a disregard. Mastic beach Fd members met the boats at the dock and assisted in unloading. operator refused medical attention and was able to secure a ride home. All units were up and in service in under an hour.
