Hazard Mitigated: Endicott Firefighters Secure Ruptured Gas Line at Watson and Oak Hill

ENDICOTT, NY — Emergency crews moved quickly to isolate and mitigate a ruptured gas line Thursday morning, securing the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Oak Hill Avenue before handing repair operations over to utility crews.

On the morning of September 3, 2026, the Endicott Fire Department in Broome County was dispatched to the area of Watson and Oak Hill for an active natural gas leak resulting from a ruptured line.

Firefighters established an immediate perimeter, closed off traffic to protect motorists and nearby pedestrians, and monitored atmospheric conditions in the surrounding area while working to control and contain the leak.

By approximately 10:10 a.m., fire personnel successfully stabilized the immediate hazard and transferred the scene to New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG).
