At 5:52 p.m. on July 13, mutual assistance agencies and Citizens Volunteer Fire Company Station 56 responded to a residential structure fire in the 3300 block of New Park Road.

When Chief 56 arrived, he saw flames coming from the second floor of a two-story house. With the help of Tanker 56 and Truck 54, Engine 56 advanced a 1½-inch handline to the second level and put out the fire. The overhaul was aided by additional teams from York and Harford counties.

It is thot that a malfunctioning air conditioner caused the fire. There were no recorded injuries to firefighters or civilians. To help evacuated residents, the Red Cross was notified. During the incident, Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company supplied an engine for coverage.
