Washington, PA - South Strabane Fire Department responded to an active natural gas leak on North Main Street in the area of Crile Road after construction crews struck a 6-inch gas main.
Upon arrival, crews identified the leak and established a safety perimeter while coordinating with the gas utility. As a precaution, several nearby residents were evacuated to ensure their safety during the incident.
Firefighters from South Strabane and Canton Township operated on scene, assisting with scene control and hazard mitigation while Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania worked to stop the leak and secure the damaged line. Units remained in place until the situation was brought under control and the area was deemed safe.
