On July 28 and 29, the Vassalboro Fire Department offered mutual aid during a significant forest fire near Dirigo Road in China.

Due to the fire's position in a densely forested area with restricted access, Vassalboro firemen helped with ongoing suppression efforts. Only ATVs and UTVs could get crews to the fire site.

Firefighters and other organizations had to work nonstop for two days to contain the fire due to the extended response. The department expressed gratitude to its members and the supporting organizations for their collaboration, expertise, and dedication to mutual aid activities.
