Sebago Center, ME — July 17 — As the Sebago Days Parade was coming to a finish, the Sebago Fire Department responded to a propane leak at Sebago Elementary School. The fire departments of Baldwin and Standish helped each other out. Firefighters secured the propane supply, evacuated the building, and checked it using gas meters. While crews worked at the school, Cumberland County VIPs and the Sebago Days Committee helped manage traffic and crowds.
Fire crews and event staff had to work together to coordinate the response as parade traffic evacuated the area. Before leaving the facility, firefighters finished the ventilation and safety inspections. After the incident was resolved and no casualties were recorded, regular operations were resumed at the scene.
