At around 4:22 p.m. on July 22, the Central Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communication Center received reports of smoke and flames, prompting the Warren Fire Department to react to a reported structure fire at 64 Southbridge Road. Before workers could arrive, a second alarm was ordered.

When firefighters saw smoke coming from a multi-family home's eaves, they swiftly contained the fire and stopped it from spreading farther throughout the structure. Residents of all four flats were relocated, but no injuries were recorded.

Numerous mutual help organizations provided support services, station coverage, and firefighting operations assistance. The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Office of the State incident Marshal are still investigating the cause of the incident.
