On July 17, the Ashburnham Fire Department responded to a brush fire on an island in Lake Wampanoag by sending Forestry 4, Boat 1, and Car 1 to put out any leftover hot spots.
To make sure the fire was completely confined and to reduce the possibility of it rekindling, firefighters performed mop-up operations. For the reaction to reach the island and finish suppression operations, coordinated efforts and specialized equipment were needed.
