Marshfield, VT. — Aug. 3 — When a domestic fire started in the laundry room of a house, the Cabot, Vermont Volunteer Fire Department helped the Marshfield Fire Department. Cabot firemen provided self-contained breathing apparatus, ventilation equipment, and scene lighting to support interior operations while the Plainfield Fire Department set up shop nearby. Crews extinguished a tiny section within a wall, removed the blazing dryer, and used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire extension.

Before firefighters could arrive, every resident and their pets had safely left. The house had significant smoke damage, and the washing and dryer were considered total losses. To lower the chance of a fire, fire officials advised locals to routinely clean exhaust pipes and dryer lint traps.
