Vermont and Massachusetts Crews Join Pownal Structure Fire Response

Pownal, VT — September 14, 2026 — On Monday, firefighters from Pownal and surrounding areas responded to a structure fire on Pine Hollow Road, mobilizing departments from both Vermont and Massachusetts.
The Pownal Valley Fire Department responded to the structure fire, and the Pownal Fire Department offered mutual aid. Extra support was provided by the Bennington Rural Fire Department, the Bennington Fire Department, and the Williamstown Fire District in Massachusetts.
The fire was first reported at 76 Pine Hollow Road in Pownal, starting with visible smoke from the building before being upgraded to a fully involved structure fire. A scanner report also showed that mutual-aid companies were asked to help with the operation and offer coverage.
