Vergennes Firefighters Assess Building After Vehicle Crash

Vergennes, VT — September 12, 2026 — On Saturday night, firefighters arrived at a vehicle that had crashed into a building on Main Street and discovered the structure was empty when they got there. 

The Vergennes Volunteer Fire Department was called out around 10:24 p.m. for a report regarding a vehicle that had hit a building. Firefighters arrived within roughly two minutes and discovered the Vergennes Police Department already there. 

At the time of the crash, the buildingknown locally as Amy's Hair Designwas empty. The firefighters evaluated the building and worked with the property owner to determine the next course of action.  Local news reports said the vehicle caused significant damage to the front of the business, including a shattered front window and debris across the front area. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening.
