Pomfret Firefighters Responded to Smoking Wires

POMFRET, VT — September 11 —The Pomfret-Teago Volunteer Fire Department, located at 2026 Pomfret Road, Pomfret, VT, United States, 05067, was called to Pomfret Road in South Pomfret due to a report of a tree on power lines.A burning branch had fallen onto a vehicle.


Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoking wires and smoldering brush near the road.

The crew swiftly put out the brush and stayed on the scene to manage traffic while waiting for Green Mountain Power (GMP) personnel to arrive.


This incident emphasized the need for coordination with electric utility teams during situations involving damaged or live power lines.

GMP operates a 24-hour emergency response team and urged the public to stay clear of downed power lines and to report any electrical emergencies immediately.
