At 6:44 am on Monday, 7/27/26 the Danielson, Dayville, South Killingly, Atwood Hose, Attawaugan, East Killingly and Moosup Fire Departments with KB Ambulance were dispatched to 32 Hawkins Street for a house fire. QV Medic 1 arrived with heavy fire from the front porch on a 2.5 story wood frame house with power lines down on the Bravo side. 

Engine 163 laid in from a hydrant on Gauthier Avenue and hit it with the deck gun. Tower 161 set up on the bravo side while Ladder 194 set up on the delta side. Companies knocked a lot of fire with master streams and then went inside and overhauled. Car 61 had command while Car 364 was operations.

Command transmitted a second alarm which added Williamsville, East Brooklyn and Mortlake. Command requested Eversource to shut the grid down due to wires burning and multiple exposure problems.

Ambulance 761 with he QVMedic transported a patient to Day Kimball Hospital who was later flown to a burn center. Additional FASTs were started from Central Village, East Putnam, Sterling, Plainfield and Community. Unfortunately dozens of cats perished in this blaze. The Killingly Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
