August 21, 2026 — Willimantic, Connecticut: At 2:49 p.m., Willimantic firefighters were called to Casella Waste Systems on Chronicle Road in response to a report of an electrical wire-related dump truck fire. The address of Casella's Willimantic hauling business is 121 Chronicle Road.

When crews from C201, Engine 101, and Engine 201 arrived, they discovered that a tractor-trailer's trailer was on fire and had electrical lines on top of it.

When the call was received, Eversource was informed and took action to secure the electrical threat. Before firefighters arrived, the truck driver had safely left and was unharmed. Once Eversource secured the power and removed the lines, firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire. No injuries were reported. The incident was also reported by regional news outlets, which confirmed the fire began after electrical wires contacted the truck.
